A “Mommy Makeover” involves a combination of breast enhancement and slimming of the abdomen. These procedures are often performed in women who have had children and wish to attain a body form similar to the shape they knew before their pregnancy. Because pregnancy and breast feeding create changes in a woman’s figure including stretching of the abdominal wall and deflation, drooping, enlargement, or shrinking of the breast tissue, a Mommy Makeover can involve a breast augmentation, lift, or reduction, along with some means of making the abdomen and/or waist slimmer and more shapely.
Abdominal slimming can be done in several ways, depending on your needs. If your abdominal muscles have been stretched by your pregnancy, or your skin has been significantly stretched, you may be in need of an abdominoplasty (also called a tummy tuck). If you have some extra fatty tissue around the middle, but your muscles and skin have not been stretched too much, you may be a candidate for liposuction or even CoolSculpting, a non-invasive option for fat removal.
Every woman’s body is different, and every woman’s reaction to pregnancy creates a different set of circumstances. In order to individualize your care, it is best to meet with an experienced plastic surgeon who specializes in these procedures, like Dr. Lowenstein.
